This is due to the way Synergy merges your clipboards. The cursor will appear on the second screen as if it arrived from the first screen.Īnother interesting tool built into Synergy is the ability to cut and paste across all your systems, regardless of their general compatibility. You move between screens simply by moving the cursor off the edge of one screen in the direction of another. It grants you the ability to control all your computer systems with a single mouse and keyboard as if they were all one big integrated computer. The concept behind the software is excellent. Overall Opinion: While there are some fairly obvious downsides to the Synergy software, many people would find it to be an essential tool in their daily workflow. Ive had a laptop screen ruined from moving the mouse across a fullscreen app and it broke something in the screen and leaving lines of dead pixels even after a system reinstall. Its the lack of development and irresponsible customer support that drags this great software down, when you run in to problems they just push you to either buy the Synergy 2 and wait for the "upcoming features" or say its not their problem. Its been a year and nothing changed its still as incomplete as it was, and so ive went back to the more reliable and versatile Synergy 1. The company quickly moved on from their Synergy 1 and started to promise great improvements on their next product - Synergy 2. It was advertised to allow file drag ang drop across computers but that feature was never implemented. The clip board sharing feature is pretty handy however it only worked for text. Setup isn't too complicated, but had to look online to get it to work properly. Overall, Synergy for Mac seems to be suitable for individuals needing more than one computer to work with at a time because it allows users to eliminate the hassle of using separate mice and keyboards for separate systems.Overall Opinion: Decent software, very convenient to use when working with multiple computers. It is not clear what the user gets if they contribute less than $10, but for a contribution of $10 they can get a premium vote that they are able to cast on any feature or bug that needs fixing. Synergy is a free application but the developers encourage the purchase of Premium accounts to support the project. We only had this problem with the keyboard inputs, though. Once we completed setup on a local server, we were able to share our mouse and keyboard between our desktop and our MacBook, but the transference of the keyboard inputs between the two screens, and separate applications being used at the time, created some lag time. Synergy could have done a better job facilitating an easier, more guided and descriptive setup and for its users, though. Upon downloading and installing Synergy for Mac, the user will find that the mouse and keyboard sharing concept is based on the user's knowledge and ability to either set up a server for all the computers that will be sharing or to access a client base already established. Even though Synergy for Mac is an easy-to-use utility concept, it could use some additional improvements with its setup process and execution. Open-source and usable across platforms, this utility application lets you share a single mouse and keyboard across more than one computer at a time.
